THE BEST PLACE FOR QUALITY TIME WITH KIDS: THE KITCHEN!

We can safely say that the kitchen—and kitchen tools—are one of the areas in the home that children find most interesting. For them, food preparation is also something that naturally takes a lot of time. Instead of letting your child spend this time alone or in front of the TV or tablet—engaged in unproductive and low-quality activities—it's much more beneficial to create an environment in the kitchen where they feel happy and can develop new experiences and skills.

Including children in various tasks not only improves their physical and cognitive abilities but also supports their journey to becoming independent individuals in the future.

Why Do Children Love the Kitchen So Much?

The kitchen is one of the most loved places in the house because it satisfies children’s natural curiosity. There’s constant motion, lots of things to explore, mix, and try out. It's a space full of small, detailed activities that they can dive into.

Often, the most mischievous, messy, and adorable moments with children happen in the kitchen—while eating, drinking, and playing. It’s a space where they can continuously combine, spill, discover, and experience something new each time.

Tips for Getting Things Done While Spending Quality Time:

  • You can create a special drawer filled with safe kitchen utensils that your baby can reach easily and safely explore.
  • After ensuring a safe environment, it’s helpful to involve your child in certain kitchen tasks. Though unloading the dishwasher, carrying plates and cups, stirring, or filling containers may seem like they slow you down and create messes at first, these activities benefit your child and contribute greatly to their development through hands-on engagement.
  • Once they’re past infancy, it's very beneficial to get them in the habit of exploring kitchen tools and involving them in simple recipes and tasks.
  • Let them take part in table setting, chopping (with age-appropriate tools), stirring, or assigning small tasks entirely to them—it will significantly support their development.
