HOW TO AVOID CHILDREN'S TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION?

Times have changed. Gone are the days when children were sewing clothes for their babies and running balls in the streets. The modern age not only affected us from head to toe, but also radically changed the play habits of children. Of course, we should not avoid benefiting from the benefits of the developing world; however, we should not ignore the features that come from human nature. Of course, we suffer from making the distance between us and technology so out of control that it interrupts our natural needs and characteristics.

While even us adults cannot set the distance we need to put between us and technology, it would be a little unfair to expect children to do this on their own. Considering that children in the developmental age are more affected by technology addiction than adults, we can easily understand the importance of being able to provide this control as parents.

Keeping your kids completely off computers and tablets is definitely not a good option. Since electronic devices such as computers and tablets are used in every field in the developing world, your child should be accustomed to this type of technology. Seeing that their peers are dealing with these technologies, if they stay away from them completely, the child may think of himself as backward and this may make him feel bad in his own social environment.

First, set a limit to the time your child spends in front of the screen. A computer or tablet should never be within the reach of the child at all times. One hour of screen time per day up to age 6 and 2 hours after age 6 is ideal for a child.

Try to master these new technologies. Try to learn computer and tablet programs to control, understand and participate in your child's activities on the tablet and computer. Exchange ideas with your child at unfamiliar points and offer to play your favorite games with him. Sharing with you makes you think that you are in control of the subject and softens the possibility of rejecting your limitations on the subject with a sharp language.

If possible, your child's screen should not be an item that belongs only to him. Your child, who is obliged to take permission for an electronic device he uses as a common use item, to wait in line, thus develops social behaviors such as sharing and waiting in line. In addition, since he knows that he is not always at hand, his demanding will decrease.

Try to direct your child to age-appropriate and, if possible, educational programs on computers and tablets. There are many programs on the Internet that are educational as well as entertaining. By making use of these programs, you can enable your preschool and school-age children to access a lot of new information and enjoy the subject while doing so.
