A NUTRITIOUS ORGANIC PUREE FOR YOUR BABY: FISH, CARROT, AND LEEK PUREE

A NUTRITIOUS ORGANIC PUREE FOR YOUR BABY: FISH, CARROT, AND LEEK PUREE

February, one of the coldest months of winter, requires extra care when it comes to protecting your baby from illnesses that can arise during colder weather, and also calls for extra attention to nutrition.

While it’s important that the purees you prepare for your baby use organic, natural ingredients, the nutritional value of those ingredients is just as crucial. Protect your baby with the powerful combination of fish—rich in essential nutrients—and winter favorites like carrots and leeks.

Leek, known for its strong antioxidant properties, also helps protect heart and vascular health thanks to its mineral content. Packed with vitamins K, A, C, and B6, leeks contribute positively to bone and tissue development, supporting your baby’s growth.

Leek also contains a compound called lutein, known for protecting eye cells. Combined with the E vitamins found in carrots, this vegetable blend offers numerous benefits for visual and brain development—especially when paired with fish.

Fish, which is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, provides numerous beneficial minerals that support the development of your baby’s brain and nervous system. Regular and sufficient fish consumption offers benefits such as:

  • Improved focus
  • Energetic mood
  • Enhanced cognitive function
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Reduced risk of skin conditions
  • Improved brain function and IQ
  • Better concentration
  • More regular sleep patterns
  • Emotional stability
  • Controlled hyperactivity
  • Increased resistance to heart disease and cancer

Organic Fish, Carrot, and Leek Puree for Babies

Ingredients:

  • 50 grams of fish fillet (sea bass is a good choice)
  • 3 peeled and chopped organic carrots
  • 1 leek stalk (white parts only)
  • ½ cup of drinking water

Instructions:

Boil 1–2 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Place a steam basket over the boiling water. Add the chopped carrots, leeks, and fish to the steam basket.

Steam the fish, carrots, and leeks until they reach your desired softness. If the water in the pot evaporates, add more as needed. Once everything is cooked to your preferred consistency, blend the ingredients in a food processor until you get a smooth puree.

You can store this puree in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months. While this recipe can be introduced after your baby turns 7 months old, always consult your pediatrician before introducing fish or other new foods to your baby.
